Bharti Airtel Q2 2011-12 financial performance highlights

Bharti Airtel posted 13.4 percent increase in revenue in Q2
2011-12 at $3.78 billion compared with $3.28 billion in Q2 previous fiscal.

 

Profit plummeted by 38 percent to $225 million in Q2 2011-12
from $358 million in Q2 2010-11.

The substantial growth in revenue was primarily driven by
Africa and non-voice businesses.

 
HIGHLIGHTS OF BHARTI AIRTEL’S FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE

  

* Total customers grew to 236 million Q2 2011-12 from 194
million in Q2 2010-11

 

* Products are available through distribution network covering
over 1.5 million outlets

 

* Total minutes on network 250,446 million minutes in Q2
2011-12 v/s 216,373 million minutes

 

* Sites grew to 135,813 from 123,869

 

* Total capex during Q2 2011-12 was $1,035 million against
$712 million in Q2 2010-11

 

* During H1 2011-12, Airtel’s Capex spent was INR 45,440
million in Africa compared with INR 4,700 million in Q2 2010-11

 

* During H1 2011-12, Airtel capex spent was INR 45,330 million
in India and South Asia compared with INR 46,708 million in Q2 2010-11

 

AIRTEL INDIA

 

* Mobile ARPU decreased by 9 percent to Rs 183 in Q2 2011-12
from Rs 202 in Q2 2011-12

 

* Average minutes of use per user is down by 7 percent to 423
minutes from 454 minutes

 

* Non-voice revenue as a percentage of total revenue increased
to 14.5 percent from 12.7 percent

 

* SMS revenue as a percentage of total revenue increased to
9.5 percent from 7.9 percent

 

* Monthly churn of users increased to 7.2 percent from 5.9
percent

 

* Added 14 census towns to its mobile coverage to reach 5,115
towns in Q2 2011-12

 

* Added 7,255 non-census towns to achieve 453,148 in Q2
2011-12

 

* Added 17,694 optic fiber km to achieve 151,719 km

 

* Added 7,973 new sites to achieve 118,011 sites in Q2 2011-12

 

* Employees reduced by 1,776 to 15,611 from 17,387

 

AIRTEL AFRICA

 

* ARPU is down by 1 percent to $7.3 from $7.4

 

* Average minutes of use per user increased by 14 percent to
128 minutes from 112 minutes

 

* Monthly churn increased to 6.1 percent from 5.8 percent

 

* Non-voice revenue as a percentage of total revenue increased
to 8.5 percent from 7.1 percent

 

* SMS revenue as a percentage of total revenue increased to
5.3 percent from 4.6 percent

 

* Added 2,630 sites to 13,628 from 10,998

 

* Employees decreased by 1256 to 5,115 from 6,371

 

AIRTEL SRI LANKA

 

Airtel Sri Lanka has over 1.5 million customers with
presence in all 25 administrative districts of Sri Lanka.

 

AIRTEL BANGLADESH

 

Airtel Bangladesh has 4.3 million customers and offers
mobile services across 64 districts of Bangladesh with a distribution network
comprising over 72,000 retailers across the country.
