AT&T investment touches $5.3 bn in Q3

AT&T
American telecom network operator AT&T today said its capital expenditures (Capex) totaled $5.3 billion in Q3 2015 and $13.9 billion year to date.

AT&T investment

AT&T is investing in next-generation software-defined networks. It plans to virtualize and control more than 75 percent of its network by 2020 using cloud infrastructure and SDN to offer services such as NetBond and Network on Demand. The SDN investment will assist AT&T to lower cost capital and operation structure.

Automation and Digital First have reduced customer call volumes by an average of 2 million calls a month, said the U.S.-based telecom network operator.

AT&T has deployed fiber to 950,000 new business customer locations. It aims to achieve one million business locations this year.

Network on Demand is available in more than 170 cities, driving improvement in cycle times. AT&T signed more than 275 customer deals for Network on Demand.

AT&T is selling DIRECTV in 2,200 company-owned stores. The next step is launching certified dealers and online as well as ramping up sales in our call centers. The company added 26,000 satellite users. AT&T has more than 25 million video subscribers in the U.S.

It added 192,000 IP broadband customers in the quarter, as migrations from our DSL base continued to slow. U-verse video losses also put some pressure on broadband numbers due to high attachment rates.

In Mexico, AT&T already covered about 30 million people with 4G LTE network. Its target is to reach 40 million by the end of the year.

AT&T revenue

From this quarter, AT&T will reporting revenues in four segments: Business Solutions, Entertainment & Internet Services, Consumer Mobility and International.

AT&T’s consolidated revenues for the third quarter rose 19 percent to $39.1 billion, largely due to the acquisition of DIRECTV.

AT&T’s Business Solutions revenues rose 1.2 percent year over year.

AT&T achieved growth in wireline business data revenues for the fourth consecutive quarter.

Strategic business services revenues grew 12.6 percent to $2.8 billion.

AT&T added 26,000 domestic DIRECTV subscribers, 192,000 IP broadband users, 2.5 million AT&T Mobility domestic wireless users, 755,000 branded users, 289,000 postpaid and 466,000 prepaid users.

AT&T added record 1.6 million connected device users including 1 million connected cars.
