A report from Ookla has revealed what was the experience of customers on the mobile network of Bharti Airtel, BSNL, Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio during the second half of 2024.
Reliance Jio
Reliance Jio continued to dominate the Indian mobile market in the second half of 2024, excelling in speed, coverage, and overall performance. It was the fastest mobile provider across all technologies, achieving an impressive Speed Score of 174.89. Jio also led in 5G performance, with a median download speed of 258.54 Mbps and an upload speed of 14.54 Mbps, setting a benchmark for high-speed connectivity.
Jio reinforced its leadership by being the fastest provider in nine cities, showcasing its extensive and efficient network. Jaipur recorded the highest median mobile download speed at 181.68 Mbps, highlighting Jio’s commitment to delivering top-tier speeds. Even in cities like Mumbai, where speeds were comparatively lower at 75.75 Mbps, Jio maintained its strong presence. With its superior speed and widespread coverage, Jio remains the top choice for mobile users across India.
Airtel
Airtel led in video streaming and 5G gaming experiences in India during the second half of 2024. It recorded a mobile network download speed of 100.67 Mbps, while its 5G customers experienced speeds of 205.1 Mbps.
Airtel achieved the highest 5G Consistency at 79.8 percent and a coverage score of 58.17. It also delivered the best mobile video experience with a Video Streaming Score of 65.73 and the top 5G gaming experience with a 5G Game Score of 80.17. However, no provider stood out for video experience over 5G.
Customers of Vodafone Idea’s mobile network in India had achieved download speed of 21.60 Mbps during the second half of 2024.
In terms of best mobile network consistency, Vodafone Idea received 78.9 percent score.
Vodafone Idea received Video Streaming Score of 64.8.
Vodafone Idea received mobile gaming experience score of 67.96.
BSNL
In terms of best mobile network consistency, BSNL received 40.7 percent score. BSNL received mobile gaming experience score of 59.1.
