Eutelsat launches OneWeb LEO Aviation Services for aircraft

Eutelsat has launched its OneWeb low Earth orbit (LEO) connectivity services for commercial and business aviation.

Eutelsat has already completed installation of more than 100 certified antennas. The first commercial and business aircraft – powered by Eutelsat’s LEO connectivity – is now operational.

Eutelsat, which has been a provider of geostationary (GEO) aviation services, is expanding into LEO and multi-orbit solutions. The company has partnered with companies such as Intelsat, Hughes, and Panasonic Avionics to enhance connectivity solutions for the commercial aviation sector.

Air Canada is the first commercial airline to adopt Eutelsat’s GEO/LEO service through Intelsat. Other leading global carriers have also initiated installations and are preparing for commercial flights equipped with multi-orbit connectivity solutions.

In the business aviation segment, Eutelsat has collaborated with Gogo, a provider of in-flight connectivity solutions, to equip the first Embraer Phenom 300 with LEO services.

Additionally, aircraft manufacturer Textron has committed to integrating Eutelsat’s solutions into multiple models, including the Cessna Citation Longitude, Latitude, and Ascend. Furthermore, Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJ) will incorporate Eutelsat’s connectivity on all Airbus ACJ models.

Eutelsat has secured a robust backlog, with more than 1,000 aircraft scheduled for installation with its aviation connectivity solutions. This high demand underscores the industry’s growing need for fast, reliable, and low-latency in-flight connectivity.

“With a robust backlog and expanding reach across both commercial and business aviation, we are confident in the long-term growth of our aviation services,” Cyril Dujardin, President of the Connectivity Business Unit at Eutelsat, said.

Eutelsat’s move into LEO-powered aviation connectivity marks a significant step forward in the evolution of in-flight broadband connectivity. By leveraging multi-orbit solutions, the company aims to set new industry standards, providing seamless and high-performance connectivity for passengers and operators.
