America Movil plans 2014 Capex of around $10 billion

Telecom service provider America Movil is planning to spend around $10 billion in capital expenditure (Capex) in 2014.

The Capex plan indicates that America Movil will not increase its capital expenditure as compared with 2013.

America Movil on Wednesday said its Capex touched $9.75 billion (129.6 billion pesos) in 2013.

America Movil’s fourth quarter revenues rose 3.1 percent to 204 billion pesos from the year-earlier quarter. The main growth drivers include PayTV sales that increased 21.8 percent, mobile data revenues at 18.9 percent. Fixed-voice fell 3.0 percent, while fixed-data grew 10 percent.

America Movil posted fourth quarter profit of 17.2 billion pesos ($1.31 billion), up from 14.9 billion pesos a year earlier.

The company, controlled by billionaire businessman Carlos Slim, said it is also still interested in Dutch telecom KPN after lowering its stake earlier in the day. America Movil last year failed in a takeover bid for KPN.
