Airtel revenue surges 18.8% backed by 4G and ARPU

Bharti Airtel reported 18.8 percent increase in revenues to Rs 28,326 crore in the second quarter ended September 30, 2021.
Airtel mobile network IndiaMobile data traffic grew 47.8 percent to 10,943 PBs in the quarter.

Airtel India revenues increased 18.3 percent to Rs 19,890 crore.

Mobile revenues grew by 20.3 percent on account of increase in ARPU and strong 4G customer addition. ARPU for the quarter reached Rs 153 as compared to Rs 143 in Q2’21, reflecting strategy of focusing on quality customers.

4G data customers increased by 26.1 percent to 192.5 million. Over the last 4 quarters, the company has added 39.9 million 4G customers to its network.

Airtel rolled out additional ~3,500 towers and ~56,000 mobile broadband base stations in the quarter. Airtel said it has undertaken several initiatives to improve network quality – leveraging digital tools / probes to monitor and improve customer experience and scaling up Vo-Wi-Fi adoption to improve indoor experience. Airtel has over 33 million customers using Vo-Wi-Fi services.
