Aircel to achieve 13,000 2G, 3G and 4G telecom sites this year

Indian telecom network operator Aircel said it will have 13,000 2G, 3G and 4G sites by December 2015.

Out of the 13000 sites that will be rolled out, 5,300 sites are 2G and the remaining 7,700 are 3G and 4G sites combined.

Aircel does not share specific details on 4G sites. Airtel, India’s number of telecom operator, has already achieved 4G presence in more than 300 towns.

Aircel 3G will be focusing in regions such as Chennai, Rest of Tamil Nadu, Kolkata, Rest of West Bengal and Odisha.

2G network expansion of Aircel will be in regions such as Delhi, Bihar and Rajasthan to improve network performance.

Better customer experience, uninterrupted services and enhanced data speeds are some of the main focus areas of its network strategy.

Aircel has already rolled out nearly 7,400 telecom sites this year.

The telecom operator has added approximately 2.2 million hours per day of voice capacity and 200TB/day of data capacity to its network.

Aircel upgrades and optimizes its existing network to increase capacity, achieve higher efficiency and reduce existing pressure on networks.

“In line with our commitment to offer seamless, uninterrupted and differentiated services to our customers, Aircel regularly undertakes drive tests, installation of in-building solutions and upgrades network software to implement new features to ensure higher customer satisfaction on the Aircel network,” said Sameer Dave, chief technology officer of Aircel.
