Afghan Wireless upgrades telecom network to 3.75G+ in Kabul

Afghan Wireless Communication Company today announced the introduction of 3.75G+ mobile broadband services in Kabul.

Recently, Afghan Wireless completely rebuilt its radio and core network in Kabul using the latest technology.

For launching 3.75G+ services, Afghan Wireless is using the latest Dual Carrier-HSPA+(High Speed Packet Access plus) technology at its 3G sites in Kabul city, permitting download data rates of up to 42 Mbps per cell.

Afghan Wireless also implemented Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) as part of its 3G deployment. With this solution, AWCC provides individual or organization a public IP address which will be directly accessible from anywhere in the world.

Afghan Wireless Managing Director Amin Ramin said: “Upgraded services to our subscribers in Kabul will enable improved internet surfing, online gaming or video viewing experiences in either SD or HD format.”

The company plans to launch 3.75G+ mobile broadband service in Kandahar in Q1 2015, and will roll out to all other major cities in Afghanistan throughout 2015.

It serves approximately 4,000,000 subscribers throughout Afghanistan.
