TeliaSonera modernizes radio network in Finland with Nokia Siemens

Nokia Siemens Networks announced
that it will modernize TeliaSonera Finland’s existing GSM and 3G networks, and
roll out new LTE services.

TeliaSonera was the first
operator in the world to commercially launch 4G services. Its customers in the
central part of Helsinki can enjoy super-fast mobile broadband services, thanks
to Nokia Siemens Networks
4G LTE radio equipment.

Our
first and foremost focus is on constantly improving the quality, speed and
coverage of our mobile networks for our customers. Our current 4G services rollout
in Helsinki is in line with this objective,” said Claes Nycander, CTO and SVP
of Mobility Services at TeliaSonera.

We
have selected Nokia Siemens Networks to fully modernize our existing radio
networks, and roll out 2G, 3G and 4G services. This will allow us to ensure the
best end-user experience while enabling us to be the leader in services and
technology,” Nycander added.

Under
the two-year agreement,
Nokia Siemens Networks will provide its award-winning Flexi Multiradio Base
Stations and NetAct network management system for the network modernization.

TeliaSonera’s
first 4G services rollout globally has witnessed a huge success, generating
great interest among users globally. We are excited to continue our partnership
with the operator for subsequent 4G network launches and network
modernization,” said Jan Lindgren, head of TeliaSonera global account team at
Nokia Siemens Networks.

With
our industry-leading technology and fast network rollout capabilities, this
will significantly improve network quality and increase data speeds for mobile
broadband users,” Lindgren added.
