Telefonica selects Verimatrix for digital IPTV service

Telecom Lead America: Verimatrix, a provider of security
solutions for multi-screen digital TV services, announced that Telefonica del
Sur (Telsur) has selected the Verimatrix Video Content Authority (VCAS)
3 solution to secure its IPTV service.

Telsur, a part of the Chilean Grupo Gtd
telecommunications group, has selected VCAS for IPTV as a replacement
for its existing conditional access system (CAS) in order to achieve higher
performance, scalability and a wider choice of ecosystem partners.

VCAS enables the secure delivery of linear TV broadcast
and on-demand video services, and offers a solid upgrade platform that Telsur
can use to cost-effectively enhance its competitive advantage.

“Our previous CA provider was not able to
sufficiently support our growth plan so we chose to invest in Verimatrix as a
means of future-proofing our technology. We value the VCAS ability to easily
scale and support our emerging business initiatives. Since implementing the
Verimatrix solution, we have experienced a steep growth in our subscriber base
and revenues, which undoubtedly is influenced by the higher performance and
scalability of VCAS for IPTV,” said Fernando Gana Barroilhet, general
manager, GTD Imagen.

VCAS for IPTV is integrated with Minerva’s iTVManager,
which provides a comprehensive middleware and service delivery platform for
management of compelling video services over broadband networks.

It includes high-definition (HDTV), pay-per-view (PPV),
video-on-demand (VOD), and digital video recording (DVR).

“This deployment is particularly noteworthy because
it not only reinforces our market leadership position in Chile, but also
underscores the importance of selecting a flexible and scalable security
solution such as VCAS to support both immediate and emerging digital TV
security needs,” said Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing officer.

Chunghwa Telecom selects Verimatrix and Ericsson for IPTV
platform

Recently, Verimatrix announced that its Video Content
Authority (VCAS) 3 solutions were selected for the IPTV and
multi-screen upgrade at Chunghwa Telecom.
