Telecom Lead America: Tekelec is leading the surging
Diameter Signaling market (DSC) market with 75-85 percent current market share,
according to Exact Ventures.
Acme Packet, F5 and other jointly holds the remaining
market share of 15-25 percent of the DSC market.
The research firm estimates that Tekelec will be covering
$1 billion in cumulative DSC product revenues by 2016.
Tekelec achieved this position with a strong foundation
of SS7 signaling, early entry into the Diameter routing market and 19 customer
wins for its Diameter Signaling Router (DSR).
“Tekelec “has firmly established its leadership
in the DSC market. The company’s customer footprint “makes it clear that
Tekelec has won the vast majority of the large-scale DSC deployments to
date,” said Greg Collins, founder and principal analyst of Exact Ventures.
The research firm forecasted DSC market revenue will grow
an average of 56 percent per year over the next five years due to growth in
smartphone-based signaling traffic plus the growing number of network nodes
that require signaling.”
“The success of service provider mobile data
strategies relies on a New Diameter Network. Those deploying a Diameter
infrastructure in the early stages of their LTE and IMS deployments will be
better positioned to profit from innovative data services and avoid signaling
storms,” said Doug Suriano, chief technology officer of Tekelec.
Tekelec’s Diameter Signaling Router gives service
providers the scalability, reliability and flexibility to manage mobile data
and signaling growth and profit from mobile data services.
In February, Infonetics Research also revealed through its
study that Tekelec leads the DSC market with key customer wins in North
America.
