T-Mobile taps Cisco ASR 5000 series for LTE

Telecom Lead Europe: T-Mobile has chosen the Cisco ASR 5000 Series to manage its mobile data traffic from the new LTE network, together with existing 2G and 3G networks.

The Cisco ASR 5000 routing platform will help enable the Czech telecom operator to optimize video transmissions and offer customers a broader range of multimedia services. The solution will be implemented this year, Cisco said.

The Cisco ASR 5000 Series enables T-Mobile to reduce signaling overhead, distribute session management, and take full advantage of the network’s control and user plane capabilities.

In addition, the Cisco Next-Generation Network architecture and ASR 5000 will help enable T-Mobile to multiply network capacity.

Vlado Klein, chief technology officer, T-Mobile Czech Republic, said: “T-Mobile chose the Cisco ASR 5000 because of its high reliability and quality, which are absolutely necessary and essential for our network. The solution also helps ensure sufficient capacity to provide the fastest mobile Internet to our customers now and in the future.”

Demand for mobile services, such as video and location-based apps, will drive revenue growth opportunities for service providers in the Czech Republic and throughout the EMEAR region.
