Nokia wins IoT deal from Smart in Philippines

Nokia has won a deal from Smart, a subsidiary of PLDT, to assist in the launch of IoT services in the Philippines.
Nokia Finland 2019Smart will utilize Nokia’s IoT Network Grid (WING) managed service and deliver a fully virtualized solution to meet the critical requirements of Smart’s enterprise customers in the Philippines.

GSMA Intelligence forecasts that total IoT connections will double between 2019 and 2025, reaching 24 billion.

Nokia’s WING managed service helps operators to capture IoT market share without having to make investments in infrastructure. Thanks to the invest-as-you-grow business model from Nokia, Smart can go-to-market quickly and scale IoT services cost-effectively, Ankur Bhan, head of WING Business at Nokia, said.

“Nokia’s technology helps us to maintain PLDT’s leadership position and assist customers in maximizing the potential of IoT services,” Jovy Hernandez, ePLDT President & CEO and SVP & Head for PLDT and Smart Enterprise Business Groups, said.
