Nokia wins 4-year 5G network contract extension with TNN in Denmark

Nokia has signed a four-year contract extension with TTN in Denmark to remain the sole supplier of 5G radio access networks and managed services. The deal will see Nokia evolve TTN’s 5G network with advanced AI and autonomous capabilities to improve service quality, speed, and user experience. The project, already underway, aims to support new digital services and advanced business applications for TNN’s customers.

TTN, Denmark’s largest shared mobile network, is a joint venture between Norlys and Telenor. Under the new agreement, Nokia will deploy its energy-efficient AirScale Radio Access Network (RAN) portfolio to deliver premium 5G services to more than three million subscribers across the country.

Nokia to supply next-generation 5G equipment

As part of the deal, Nokia will provide its latest Habrok Massive MIMO radios and Pandion multi-band remote radio heads (RRH) to ensure 5G coverage across Denmark. The company will also supply its AI-ready AirScale baseband solutions – Ponente, Lodos, and Levante – which are designed to enhance scalability, efficiency, and capacity while managing increased data traffic. These solutions are powered by Nokia’s ReefShark System-on-Chip (SoC) technology for superior performance and energy efficiency.

AI and automation for network optimization

TTN will benefit from Nokia’s AI-driven network management tools, including MantaRay SON, a self-organizing network solution, and MantaRay AutoPilot, an intent-based, AI-powered automation system. These technologies will help optimize network performance in real time, reduce operational costs, and improve efficiency. Nokia’s managed services will leverage these AI capabilities to simplify 5G operations and enhance customer experience.

Daniel Askeroth, SVP Telco at Norlys, said: “We are focused on delivering the best network to our customers across Denmark. Partnering with Nokia will provide us with an autonomous, AI-powered 5G network enabling us to offer superior services and embrace the opportunities of 5G and beyond.”

Louise Haurum, Chief Technology Officer at Telenor Denmark, said: “Renewing our 5G partnership with Nokia marks a significant step forward in delivering seamless, high-performance connectivity. This collaboration strengthens network resilience and drives digital innovation across Denmark.”

Mark Atkinson, Head of Radio Access Network at Nokia, said: “This enhanced deal with TNN reflects our strong partnership and Nokia’s leadership in 5G and AI-powered network automation. We are supporting TNN in expanding 5G coverage and capacity to deliver world-class connectivity experiences.”

Strengthening Denmark’s 5G future

The extended collaboration between Nokia and TNN highlights Denmark’s growing focus on building resilient, energy-efficient 5G infrastructure. By combining Nokia’s advanced RAN technology with AI-based automation, the partnership aims to deliver faster, smarter, and greener 5G connectivity for millions of users and enterprises across the country.
