Nokia to supply Cloud Packet Core solution to Tele2

Tele2 AB
Telecom network and software maker Nokia today said it will supply Cloud Packet Core solution to Tele2 to assist in the delivery of mobile broadband and prepare for 5G networks.

Tele2 will invest in Nokia’s Cloud Packet Core solution in Croatia, followed by Sweden, the Baltic states, Austria, the Netherlands and Kazakhstan.

Finland-based Nokia in a statement said its Cloud Packet Core solution will give Tele2 the scale and performance necessary to support LTE consumer services on a larger scale, and further develop the foundation for 5G.

Tele2 has approximately 16 million subscribers in Europe and Central Asia.

Basil Alwan, president of IP / Optical Networks at Nokia, said: “Tele2 is building out its packet core network to address the growth of consumer mobile broadband and an evolution path to 5G. The cloud-native solution will allow Tele2 to connect a greater number and variety of devices and deliver a broader range of services.”
