Nokia Networks completes SAC Wireless acquisition

Nokia Networks has completed the acquisition of SAC Wireless, a provider of infrastructure and network deployment solutions.

This acquisition of the Schaumburg, Illinois-based SAC Wireless is expected to increase Nokia Networks’ market share in network implementation service space.

The broadband focused telecom equipment vendor did not share financial details of the deal.

SAC Wireless, which has nearly 500 resources, will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nokia.

With the acquisition, Nokia Networks is trying to utilize a new trend in which global telecom operators are moving away from sub-contracting their network implementation services and opting instead for a direct service provider or self-perform model.

Ricky Corker, executive vice president of North America for Nokia Networks, said, in a statement: “SAC Wireless’ capabilities complement our own in-house expertise. We believe this will enable us to build an even stronger foundation for our U.S. services business and address a market opportunity to bring increased end-to-end efficiency to our customers.”

SAC Wireless will address telecom operator challenges such as network expansions, new spectrum, distributed antenna systems (DAS) and small cell implementations, site acquisition, permitting, sub-contractor availability and quality.

Besides, SAC Wireless Engine Room, a process focused on managing site development, SAC Wireless offers self-perform implementation of indoor and outdoor small cells and DAS, RF engineering and design, construction management and services, as well as turnkey program management of large scale network deployments.
