Nokia and TSSC plan 5G skill development center in Gujarat

Nokia announced the setting up of a Nokia Centre of Excellence in Skill Development in collaboration with Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) and Kaushalya- TheSkill University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Nokia and TSSC plan 5G skill development centerThe inauguration ceremony was attended by guests, including Balvantsinh Rajput, Cabinet Minister for Labour, Skill Development and Employment, Govt. of Gujarat, Kunvarjibhai Halpati, State Minister, Labour, Skill Development and Employment, Govt. of Gujarat, and Anju Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, Labour, Skill Development and Employment.

The CoE, located at ITI Kubernagar, will feature a dedicated Skill Lab focused on training candidates in 5G technology skills. The ultimate goal is to provide placement offers to at least 70 percent of learners within 4-6 weeks of completing the course. In the first year of the project, approximately 300 candidates will benefit from this program. Nokia’s investment in infrastructure, equipment, and training for the five labs within the CoE is part of the company’s larger CSR program in India.

Amit Marwah, CMO of Nokia India, emphasized the company’s commitment to local communities and its efforts to promote connectivity and digitization for positive socio-economic, educational, and health impacts in India.

Arvind Bali, CEO of the Telecom Sector Skill Council, expressed excitement about the CoE, which features advanced labs dedicated to 5G, IoT, Advanced Security Surveillance, Line Assembler, and Advanced Mobile Repair.

Nokia’s expansion of its CSR efforts through the establishment of the Nokia Centre of Excellence in Skill Development marks a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to supporting skill development and creating opportunities for the youth in India’s rapidly advancing telecom sector.
