LG Uplus, Huawei complete network field trail of 3 different band Carrier Aggregation

South Korea telecom service provider LG Uplus in association with Huawei completed the world’s first commercial network field trail of 3 different band Carrier Aggregation (3CC CA).

LG Uplus currently has 7.5 million LTE subscribers across three commercial LTE network bandwidths of 800 MHz, 2100 MHz and 2600 MHz.

This is the world’s first commercial network field trail based on commercial 800 MHz (10 MHz), 2100 MHz (10 MHz) and 2600 MHz (20 MHz) bandwidths, with 300 Mbps peak throughput.

Earlier, trails were conducted in the lab and via un-commercialized networks, said Huawei.

CA combines two or more basic bands to meet better throughput demand and deliver high data speeds, strengthening overall network capacity and providing a more seamless user experience. The technology will be supported by 3CC CA technology compatible smart phones later this year.

Choi Taek-jin, vice president of LG Uplus, said: “G Uplus’ completion of this 3 band carrier aggregation field trail proves its influence in LTE-A technology and commitment to technology innovation.”
