Indus Towers hires Shankar Iyer as chief sales and marketing officer

Telecom tower company Indus Towers announced the appointment of Shankar Iyer as the chief sales and marketing officer (CSMO).

Shankar Iyer, who has over 24 years of experience in diverse industries, joins Indus Towers from Sixth Energy Technologies and has previously been associated with Indus Towers as a founding Employee Member and regional director.

Earlier, Shankar Iyer has also been associated with Titan Industries, Diageo, Coca-Cola, Hutchison Essar (Vodafone), Bharti Infratel, and Quippo Telecom (SREI Group) in various capacities.

Shankar Iyer succeeds Sameer Sinha who has served as CSMO of Indus Towers — responsible for sales, business development, marketing communications and collections. Indus Towers hired Sameer Sinha in September 2009.

Shankar is a graduate in Economics with Post-Graduation in Marketing and Advanced Management Program. He is an Alumnus of IIM – Bangalore and Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Indus Towers, a joint venture amongst Bharti Infratel, Vodafone India and Aditya Birla Telecom, has achieved over 288,913 tenancies till date in 15 telecom circles of India. With the current count of over 122,730 towers, Indus has the widest coverage in India and is also the largest telecom tower company in the country.
