Huawei, in partnership with 3 Hong Kong, the mobile communications division of Hutchison Telecom Hong Kong, has demonstrated an end-to-end FDD and TDD LTE-A commercial network in Hong Kong.

The demonstration was conducted using carrier aggregation (CA) technology and terminals chip-powered by Qualcomm Technologies.

The demonstration is the first end-to-end FDD and TDD LTE-A commercial network. It demonstrated how an integrated FDD-TDD network can support innovative applications in the Internet of Things era.

The three companies have also created the world’s first FDD-TDD CA commercial network on IP radio access network (RAN) architecture.

The growth of 4G networks is much faster in Asian markets, especially China. Leading operators in China have formed 4G Advanced partnerships with telecom equipment vendors like Huawei, ZTE and Nokia Networks.

China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom are the key telecom operators in 4G space in China.
