Etisalat, Huawei conduct 400G trials on optical transport network in UAE

Telecom network vendor Huawei said Etisalat, a telecom service provider, has conducted 400G trials on a commercially available optical transport network (OTN) in UAE.

Huawei said its 400G technology enables operators to offer both fixed-line and mobile broadband services to their customers more efficiently, including IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) content and LTE-Advanced mobile connectivity.

Recently, Etisalat partnered with Huawei to conduct trials of 5G mobile broadband services in Middle East.

Both Huawei and Etisalat are also planning to conduct trial 40Gbps GPON fiber network.

“With Huawei’s 400G technology, Etisalat’s network asset has proven its capability of supporting future, next-generation transmission technology, and are committed to enhancing our ability to support traffic growth demand from our customers,” said Esmaeel Alhammadi, vice president of Network Development, Etisalat.
