Ericsson announced plans to manufacture all its telecom antennas for the Indian market within the country.

The decision follows a surge in demand from Indian telecom giants Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, who accelerated their 5G rollouts in 2023. This increased local demand helped offset a slowdown in orders from the United States, traditionally Ericsson’s largest market.
Ericsson, which began manufacturing in India in 1994, stated that it will fully localize its passive antenna production by June. Ericsson did not reveal its investment plans for India.
Although Ericsson also has facilities in Mexico, Romania, and China, its Indian operations will become a key production hub. A significant share of the antennas made in India is expected to be exported once domestic requirements are fulfilled.
Production will be based in Gurgaon in partnership with VVDN Technologies. Additionally, Ericsson’s logistics center in Pune will manage regional distribution and supply chain activities.
Ericsson has generated revenue of SEK 3.85 billion from India in Q1 2025. Ericsson’s India revenue now represents 7 percent of its global revenue in Q1 2025 vs 10 percent in Q1 2024.
Ericsson has 25,991 employees in Q1 2025 vs 26,389 in Q4 2024 in its South East Asia, Oceania and India region. The total number of employees at Ericsson has dropped to 92,866 in Q1 2025 from 94,236 in Q4 2024.
