Currently serving as Head of Customer Unit T-Mobile in Ericsson’s Market Area Americas, David Hammarwall will relocate to Stockholm, Sweden, to assume leadership of the company’s largest business segment. His appointment comes at a critical time as telecom operators accelerate investments in 5G networks, artificial intelligence-powered network automation, and the evolution toward 6G technologies.

David Hammarwall has been with Ericsson since 2007 and brings deep technical and commercial expertise to the role. He holds a PhD in telecommunications from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and has previously served as Head of Product Area Networks, Head of Product Line Radio, and Head of Product Line 5G RAN. Since 2023, he has led Ericsson’s relationship with T-Mobile, one of the company’s key customers in North America.

Ericsson President and CEO Börje Ekholm highlighted Hammarwall’s strong technology background and industry knowledge, stating that his leadership will help customers maximize the value of 5G, AI-driven network intelligence, and future 6G developments.

Per Narvinger, who currently heads Business Area Networks, said Hammarwall has played a significant role in strengthening Ericsson’s technology leadership and will bring valuable market experience back into the Networks organization.

The leadership transition reflects Ericsson’s focus on growing its business in 5G infrastructure, AI-enabled network operations, and next-generation mobile network innovation as the telecom industry prepares for the 6G era.
