Enea announced that Vodafone Ireland has consistently delivered better video quality for its smartphone customers using the Enea Openwave Traffic Management solution.
Vodafone Group has deployed Enea Openwave’s video solutions across its mobile networks globally as part of the strategy to focus on mobile video QoE.
Some mobile operators have achieved 50 percent to over 100 percent growth in mobile video streaming traffic.
As Over-The-Top (OTT) players apply their own proprietary video delivery mechanisms, an array of different encryption protocols further complicate the task of video management for telecom engineers at mobile operators.
Vodafone Ireland CEO Anne O’Leary recently announced unlimited mobile data package for smartphone customers, with no fair usage policy restrictions.
The mobile operator’s packages for both businesses and consumers include unlimited mobile Internet usage in Ireland and across Europe and unlimited international calls on selected plans.
Enea Openwave’s technology enables transparent classification of encrypted traffic flows (HTTPS and QUIC) to balance picture and playback video quality in real time, across video users. The solution accelerates mobile data and also provides encrypted and unencrypted filtering technology (parental controls) to protect Vodafone subscribers from inappropriate content.
