Corning Unveils Multifiber Pushlok Technology at FTTH Conference

Corning has revealed the launch of its revolutionary Multifiber Pushlok Technology, marking a significant milestone in its Evolv solutions.
Corning fiberCorning says this technology promises to streamline deployments, offering substantial cost savings while aiding network operators in achieving their sustainability objectives.

The Multifiber Pushlok stands out as a “stick-and-click” connector innovation, drawing upon Corning’s experience in facilitating network expansions to over 100 million homes globally. With its compact and fiber-dense design, this connector empowers operators to deploy more fiber in constrained spaces, addressing the escalating demands for data usage. It serves as a pivotal feature in Corning’s latest Evolv solutions, simplifying intricate splicing tasks and enabling installers to connect residences and businesses with greater efficiency.

Bob Whitman, Vice President of Market Development at Corning Optical Communications, emphasized the company’s commitment to collaboratively addressing evolving industry challenges. “Our Multifiber Pushlok Technology will empower network operators to extend the benefits of high-speed connectivity to a wider audience worldwide, swiftly and seamlessly,” he stated.

The unveiling of Multifiber Pushlok Technology accompanies the introduction of three innovative Corning Evolv solutions:

Evolv Assemblies with Multifiber Pushlok Technology: This offering introduces flexibility into network architecture, boasting various sizes and density options. The tactile and audible feedback of Multifiber Pushlok simplifies the installation of cable assemblies, enhancing operational efficiency.

Evolv Terminals with Multifiber Pushlok Technology: Featuring a new “stubless” version, these terminals reduce packaging materials by up to 30 percent per assembly. This reduction facilitates an increase of up to 45 percent in product per shipping pallet, streamlining logistics processes significantly.

Evolv FlexNAP with Multifiber Pushlok Technology: This preconnectorized system, tailored to operators’ customer-specific locations, minimizes reliance on skilled labor and delivers cost savings of at least $25 per home compared to traditional splice methods.

The system’s compatibility with RPX cable enables it to fit into 1.25-inch ducts, surpassing legacy solutions restricted to 2-inch ducts. This advancement results in up to a 50 percent reduction in carbon footprint through reduced duct material usage. Additionally, the system incorporates a new built-in, locatable dust cap, facilitating swift deployment and simplifying network troubleshooting efforts.

Corning will showcase Multifiber Pushlok-enabled solutions, alongside other innovations, at Booth P04 during the 2024 Fibre to the Home (FTTH) Conference in Berlin, Germany, from March 19-21, and at Booth 2841 during the 2024 Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition (OFC) in San Diego, California, from March 24-28.
