CommScope reports drop in sales from cable and service provider business

CommScope Holding reported sales of $2.38 billion during the third quarter of 2019.
CommScope ChinaCommScope is expecting revenue of $2.2 billion – $2.4 billion and operating income of $55 million – $92 million in Q4 2019.

The third quarter revenue of CommScope included sales of $1.34 billion from ARRIS, which was acquired in April 2019.

CommScope generated a net loss of $156.5 million, or $(0.88) per basic share against net income of $63.8 million, or $0.33 per diluted share.

CommScope CEO Eddie Edwards said: “Despite a challenging customer environment, our results reflect the company’s ability to manage near-term headwinds while maximizing profitability.”

CommScope’s Connectivity Solutions business generated sales of $634.5 million (–13.3 percent) primarily due to lower sales volumes. Sales declined in all geographic regions.

CommScope’s Mobility Solutions business generated sales of $405.9 million (–3.1 percent) primarily due to a pause in spending related to the pending merger of two large telecommunications customers. Sales declined in the Asia Pacific and CALA regions were partially offset by increases in the EMEA and the North America regions.

CommScope’s Customer Premises Equipment sales decreased 12.2 percent to $826.4 million primarily due to reduced cable operator spending. Sales dropped in the EMEA and North America regions, but these declines were partially offset by increased sales in the Asia Pacific region.

CommScope’s Network and Cloud business sales decreased 29.2 percent to $376.9 million primarily due to reduced cable operator spending. Sales declined in all geographic regions.

Ruckus sales decreased 23.2 percent to $136.5 million impacted by a reduction in service provider spend.
