Cisco in NFV deployment deal with Ooredoo

Cisco announced its Network Function Virtualization (NFV) deal with telecom network operator Ooredoo.

As per the deal announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2016), Cisco will assist Ooredoo to create a roadmap for Network Function Virtualization (NFV) deployments and deliver Virtual Managed Services (VMS) in Qatar telecom market.

Ooredoo will utilize Cisco Virtual Managed Services to offer its customers automated cloud-based services.

Ooredoo will trial the Cisco Cloud VPN, part of the Cisco Virtual Managed Service portfolio, which offers secure business connectivity and routing for site-to-site, remote access, and Internet gateway applications.

Cisco Cloud VPN delivers on the promise of automation and simplification for managed services and utilizes Cisco’s best-in-class portfolio of enterprise virtualized networking functions (VNFs).

Supporting NFV and Virtual Managed Services with Cisco will provide another important resource for Ooredoo to increase operational efficiency and drive the growth of the knowledge-based economy,” said Waleed Al Sayed, chief executive officer of Ooredoo Qatar.
