Cellcom selects Mavenir to deploy virtualized IMS mobile core

Cellcom, a provider of communications services in Michigan and Wisconsin, has selected Mavenir to deploy its virtualized IMS mobile core and voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) software solutions.

Mavenir provides Virtualized IMS Core suite including VoLTE, VoWiFi, and RCS solutions based on NFV-based platform enabling operators to create and manage telco-grade services based on available hardware.

Cellcom is deploying an IMS core for all network access types and a common provisioning and management system to decrease operational costs and enable convergence of the network to deliver voice and rich multimedia services across any network access.

Cellcom CTO Lee Thibaudeau said: “Mavenir’s expertise knowledge of implementing and deploying IMS and supporting services, will help us launch new product offerings on time and on budget.”

Lee Thibaudeau, as chief technical officer and vice president of engineering, is responsible for the design and engineering of Nsight’s network, as well as overseeing construction, field operations, tower operations and the company’s network management center.

Lee Thibaudeau, who has 39 years of experience in the telecom industry, joined Nsight in 2008 to serve as director of networking and assumed the role of CTO and vice president of engineering in 2015.
