Broadcom StrataXGS switch solutions power mobile aggregation networks

Broadcom
Corporation announced that it unveiled its latest StrataXGS switch solutions
optimized to meet the bandwidth, scalability and efficiency demands of
next-generation Carrier Ethernet aggregation platforms.

Global IP
traffic is expected to quadruple over the next several years, driving the need
for a faster and more efficient aggregation network. Broadcom is
meeting that challenge with two new feature-rich series of Carrier Ethernet
aggregation switch solutions.

The StrataXGS
BCM56640 series, for modular platforms, and the StrataXGS BCM56540 series, for
fixed carrier Ethernet platforms, deliver the industry’s highest port speeds
and scale in their class. The products were showcased at P&T / Expo Comm
China 2011, Asia’s largest annual telecommunications conference.

The flexible
StrataXGS architecture underlying both families is ideally suited for
transport-oriented (PTN) and
IP-oriented (IP-RAN) aggregation network deployments, providing operators with
greater capacity and service density while controlling operational costs.

Both
StrataXGS series feature the latest Carrier Ethernet innovations including
MPLS-TP, MPLS OAM, integrated time synchronization, upgraded protection
switching, and extensive IPv4 and IPv6 routing resources.

With BCM88600
series for the core of the network, the BCM56440 series for access and mobile
backhaul, and the new BCM56640 and BCM56540 series for the aggregation portion
of the network, Broadcom offers the most compelling and comprehensive Carrier
Ethernet network solutions available today.

Broadcom
recently announced
its 40nm HD Cross-Platform Global Digital TV Transport Adapter (DTA)
system-on-a-chip (SoC) product family.

By converting
TV programming from analog to digital, Broadcom is paving the way for the
expanded network capacity that operators require in order to deliver more
interactive HDTV programming and services around the globe.  Learn more at
