Belgacom selects Cisco ASR 5000 to enhance mobile Internet experience

Belgacom has selected the Cisco Aggregated Services Router (ASR) 5000 to enhance mobile Internet experience.

The telecom operator will benefit as Cisco ASR 5000 will provide the foundation for Belgacom’s new 4G long-term evolution (LTE) network. In addition, Cisco ASR 5000 will enable unified management of Belgacom’s existing 2G and 3G mobile Internet services.

In the first three months of 2013, Belgacom doubled mobile Internet traffic in comparison with the same period in 2012.

Cisco will support Belgacom not enhance network speed and connectivity. The telecom service provider can also improve mobile internet experience and provide further opportunity to scale and monetize their network.

Belgacom will be deploying Cisco’s ASR 5000 Series for EPC bearer functionality.
