Alcatel-Lucent inks IP transport network deal with True

Telecom network vendor Alcatel-Lucent today announced its deal with Thailand’s True Corporation to supply an IP transport network.

The four-year frame agreement will enable True to benefit from an upgraded network that will converge True’s mobile, cable and Internet backhaul over a common network.

True customers will benefit from broadband speeds of up to 100G, providing a network evolution from 3G to 4G LTE.

Following the IP transport network deployment, True will deliver mobile, residential, business and cloud services via a future proof architecture which supports high capacity metro aggregation and transport with speeds of 100G and higher.

The IP transport network deal covers Bangkok, accounting for 65 percent of  Thailand’s telecom traffic, and overall covers more than 15 million mobile subscribers and more than one million broadband households.

As part of the deal, Alcatel-Lucent supplies IP Routing including 7705 Service Aggregation Router (SAR), 7210 Service Access Switch (SAS), 7450 Ethernet Service Switch (ESS), 7750 Service Router (SR) and 5620 Service Aware Manager (SAM).
