2G / 3G / 4G telecom infrastructure up 11% to $10.7 bn in Q1 2014: Infonetics

The macrocell 2G / 3G / 4G mobile infrastructure markets increased 11 percent y-o-y and decreased 2 percent q-o-q to $10.7 billion in Q1 2014, said Infonetics Research.

4G LTE rollouts in China, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America assisted the telecom infrastructure market to grow.

In Q1 2014, evolved packet core (EPC) rose 77 percent q-o-q and 129 percent y-o-y, while E-UTRAN rose 25 percent sequentially and 81 percent from a year ago.

The top 5 vendors in the 2G / 3G / 4G mobile infrastructure space are, in alphabetical order, Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia, and ZTE.

LTE rollouts of China Mobile and China Telecom have assisted Huawei and ZTE.

The global LTE equipment market will grow at a 1 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2013 to 2018, when it will total $14 billion, said Infonetics Research.

Infonetics Research said the global 2G / 3G / 4G software revenue is expected to grow at a 5-year (2013-2018) CAGR of 8.7 percent.
