Lenovo has captured 13.3 percent market share in the Indian tablet space in the third quarter (July-September) 2013, said CMR.
The Chinese PC-cum-smartphone vendor is in second position just behind Samsung.
Samsung, the market leader, has 15 percent share in the Indian tablet market.
In the third position, Datawind’s tablet market share is 12.4 percent in India in the third quarter.
Apple, Micromax, Karbonn, Xolo, etc. are not part of the top three list.
The Indian tablet market saw shipments growing at 9 percent to 1,204,410 units in Q3, CMR said on Thursday.
Tarun Pathak, analyst, CMR Telecoms Practice, said that Lenovo has figured for the first time amongst the top 3 India Tablet PC vendors. The tablet industry has seen quite a few vendors exiting the tablet category altogether, or launching their offerings in the enterprise tablets space. Key reasons for this are low profitability in the entry-level tablets market vis-a-vis a more promising future for growth of the enterprise tablets market.
CMR analysis said 3G tablets market will continue to grow and Android will remain the dominant OS, though it is expected to lose some share to the Windows and iOS platforms, once Windows 8.1 OS-based Tablet devices, the Apple iPad Air and Apple iPad Mini 2 launch in India during the October-December 2013 quarter.
