ZTE, Marvell launch new TD-SCDMA smartphone for China Mobile

Telecom Lead Asia: Marvell and ZTE have jointly
announced a new TD-SCDMA smartphone called U880E for China Mobile.

The new sub 1,000 RMB smartphone is a successor of ZTE’s
U880, also powered by Marvell, which is currently one of the best-selling 1,000
RMB smartphones in China.

 

The smartphone runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3 operating
system and has 4-Inch WVGA High Definition Screen. It has 4G eMMC ROM+512 MB
RAM with CMMB+MBBMS2.0 Mobile TV feature.

 

The U880 is equipped with Marvell PXA920H 1GHz CPU
communications platform and comes with Marvell Avastar 88W8787 Wi-Fi,
Bluetooth, and FM.

The samrtphone is 802.11n compliant and features Marvell
Mobile Hotspot capability. Also, it features Marvell PM8607 integrated audio
and power management and Marvell RF808 RF transceiver.

 

The U880E is immediately available to China Mobile
subscribers.

ZTE to improve handset profit margins this year

 

ZTE is expecting to improve handset profit margins this
year. The telecom gear maker said global sales of its smartphones to more than
double from 15 million sold in 2011.
