Xiaomi announces third manufacturing plant in India

Qualcomm Snapdragon drives Xiaomi smartphoneXiaomi, the number one smartphone brand in India, announced its third manufacturing plant in the country.

This device manufacturing plant in partnership with Hipad Technology is situated in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

China-based Xiaomi also announced 10000mAh Mi Power Bank 2i and 20000mAh Mi Power Bank 2i. Xiaomi will be assembling Mi Power Bank 2i at Hipad Technology’s facility in Noida.

Hipad Technology’s manufacturing unit is a dedicated Power Bank facility for Xiaomi and is spread across 2.3 lakh square feet. The starting production capacity for the facility is nearly 7 Power Banks per minute during its operational hours.

Xiaomi entered India in July 2014 and announced plans to establish its first manufacturing plant for its smartphones. Xiaomi has two smartphone manufacturing plants in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh and more than 95 percent of its smartphones sold in India are assembled locally.

“Xiaomi India has seen exponential growth in India and it enjoys market leadership in the Indian smartphone segment,” said Manu Jain, managing director of Xiaomi India.

Xiaomi has become the number one smartphone vendor in India in Q3 2017, according to IDC. With a market share of 23.5 percent, Xiaomi has become the number one smartphone brand in India with 9.2 million shipments.
