Xiaomi and Vivo lost market share in India smartphone: Canalys

Xiaomi and Vivo have lost market share in the India smartphone business during the second quarter of 2022, according to Canalys report.

Vivo’s India smartphone share decreased to 16 percent in Q2 2022 vs 17 percent in Q2 2021.

Samsung, Realme and Oppo enhanced their smartphone share in India.

Samsung enhanced its smartphone share in India to 18 percent in Q2 2022 as compared with 17 percent in Q2 2021.

Realme enhanced its smartphone share in India to 17 percent in Q2 2022 as compared with 15 percent in Q2 2021.

Oppo has also enhanced its smartphone share in India to 15 percent in Q2 2022 as compared with 13 percent in Q2 2021.
Q2 2022 Indian smartphone shipmentsIndian smartphone shipments dropped 5 percent to 36.4 million units from the previous quarter, with major brands struggling to shift units as consumer demand dwindled.

The smartphone shipment touched 7.0 million units for Xiaomi, 6.7 million for Samsung, 6.1 million for Realme, 6.0 million for Vivo and 5.5 million units for OPPO.

“Vendor activity remained muted in Q2, due to falling demand and government scrutiny of Chinese manufacturers,” said Canalys Analyst Sanyam Chaurasia. “Ballooning inflation hit consumers’ disposable income and vendors are struggling to cover their operating costs.”
