Smartphone shipments dip 14.6% to 268.6 mn: IDC

Worldwide smartphone shipments fell 14.6 percent to 268.6 million units in the first quarter of 2023, according to International Data Corporation (IDC).

China witnessed close to 12 percent drop. Developed markets like the USA and Western Europe fared better than others with declines of 11.5 percent and 9.4 percent respectively. Emerging markets like APeJC, CEE and MEA saw larger 17- 20 percent declines.

Samsung’s smartphone shipment has touched 60.5 million (74.6 million in Q1 2022) as against Apple’s 55.2 million (56.5 million), Xiaomi’s 30.5 million (39.9 million), Oppo’s 27.4 million (29.3 million) and Vivo’s 20.5 million (25.3 million).
