Samsung Galaxy S4 priced at Rs 41,500 in India

Telecom Lead Asia: Samsung has priced Galaxy S4 at Rs 41,500 in India.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available in stores from 12 noon on Saturday, April 27.

To promote Galaxy S4 across the country, Reliance Digital, a company owned by Reliance Industries’ Mukesh Ambani, will do a launch party on April 27 in Mumbai.

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh will nveil the Samsung Galaxy S4 with a unique stage performance. Brian Bade, CEO, Reliance Digital, and Asim Warsi, VP, Samsung Electronics will attend the launch.

ABI Research senior analyst Michael Morgan, on Thursday said: “Samsung accomplished strong smartphone growth while Apple dismissed a troubling mix of slowed growth and declining margins as a sign that the older iPhone 4S was in high demand.”

According to the latest research from Strategy Analytics, global smartphone shipments grew 36 percent annually to reach 210 million units in the first quarter of 2013. Samsung captured one-third of all smartphone volumes worldwide, while LG became the world’s third largest smartphone vendor for the first time ever.

Announcing the first quarter result, Samsung did not show optimism about its second quarter growth due to competition.

Samsung has launched the 16GB model in India. The phone’s memory can be expanded up to 64GB via a microSD card slot. The phone has 2GB RAM and extracts power from a 2600 mAh battery. Its battery is 20 per cent larger than that of the S III.

Running on Google Android 4.2.2 OS, the Galaxy S4 has a 13 megapixel auto focus camera with flash. It has a 2 megapixel front camera with Full HD recording at 30fps.

Neil Mawston, executive director at Strategy Analytics, said on Thursday: “With the flagship Galaxy S4 model likely to be in high demand, provided there are no major component shortages, Samsung should continue to deliver strong smartphone volumes worldwide in the second quarter of the year.”
