Mobile phone major Nokia is set to expand 3G mobile phones.
The new 3G phones include Nokia 207, Nokia 208 and Nokia 208 Dual SIM.
Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 will be Nokia’s most affordable 3G devices in the world.
The price of Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 is $68 and they are expected to start shipping during third quarter of 2013.
India mobile market is one of the strong focus areas for Nokia. 3G SIMs are expected to grow from 35 million in 2012 to about 272 million by 2017 as more and more high-end 2G users upgrade their services, Analysys Mason said recently.
Nokia’s latest 3G phone range will support the rapidly growing data consumption in India. The current data usage on 3G will almost double from 475MB/sub/month in 2012 to 890MB/sub/month by 2017.
Nokia on Wednesday said support for 3G network coupled with the data compression available with Nokia Xpress Browser help people enjoy rich mobile experiences at lower cost.
Social apps, smarter imaging and productivity features such as Internet-sharing and Mail for Exchange will be part of the new product range.
“The Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 are designed for people who like a classic phone and traditional keypad but don’t want to miss out on smartphone experiences, like staying connected to social media and accessing the Internet,” said Timo Toikkanen, executive vice president, Mobile Phones, Nokia.
Mobile phone users can also use the Nokia 207and Nokia 208 as a portable modem, simply by connecting the device to their laptop via a USB cable for Internet sharing anywhere, anytime.
Battery of Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 deliver up to 33 days of standby time for the Nokia 207 and Nokia 208, and up to 20 days of standby time for the Nokia 208 Dual SIM.
The Nokia 208 will be available in single SIM and Easy Swap Dual SIM variants.
