The new Nokia Asha 205 mobile phone includes a bulit-in dedicated Facebook button.

Facebook button is a significant feature. Kevin D’Souza, country growth manager, Facebook India, said Facebook has 65 million active users in this country.

The Finnish phone major is currently struggling to compete Samsung in India in the smartphone market. Recently, it sold its headquarter to cut costs.

The new phone has a 2.4inch LCD display with 240×320-pixel resolution. On the back, the newest device in Nokia’s Asha series sports a camera having VGA resolution. Asha 205 has 64MB internal memory and supports microSD card of up to 32GB capacity. The device has a 1,020mAh battery that offers talk time of 11 hours and music playback time of 30 hours. This dual-SIM phone works only on 2G networks and cannot access the internet via 3G or Wi-Fi.

Asha 205 is the most affordable Qwerty phone by the company.

“Young consumers are increasingly using Facebook for communication, socialising and entertaining. The launch of the Nokia Asha 205 responds to this growing demand and gives a unique option for consumers at an affordable price point,” said Viral Oza, director, marketing, Nokia India.

Nokia has also included ‘Slam’ feature in Asha 205. Slam allows consumers to share multimedia content like photos, music and video with nearby friends almost instantly, Nokia officials said.

Slam works with most Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones without the need to pair devices, and without the recipient needing to also have Slam. In just a few clicks, people can ‘Slam’ their content to another device faster than Bluetooth alone and without consuming internet data.
