At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, Lenovo today announced more smartphones in its S-series to compete with Huawei and LG for smartphone market share.
The starting price of Lenovo S860, S850 and S660 are $349, $269 and $229, respectively, and will be available in select markets from June 2014.
Telecom research firm Canalys expects Lenovo, a leading PC vendor, to double its worldwide smart phone market share within two years and achieve double-digit market share by 2015 at the latest.
Palo Alto-based Canalys VP and Principal Analyst Chris Jones, said that Lenovo need to continue with Motorola’s speed-of-update strategy. This is to ensure it can create pull for its smart phones through the carrier channel in mature markets when up against the might of Apple and Samsung.
Lenovo, the #3 smart connected device maker worldwide, has expanded aggressively into the global smartphone market, introducing smartphones in 25 countries in the past two years.
The new S-series smartphones come with dual SIM capability, quad-core MTK processors and Android 4.2 OS. It focuses on offering better battery life with S860 and S660.
S860 features standby time of up to 40 days and talk time of up to 24 hours on 3G connections, quad-core computing and 2GB of RAM for responsive multitasking among applications.
