Mobile phones, PCs, tablets sales to decline: Gartner

Worldwide shipments of devices including PCs, tablets and mobile phones are projected to decline 4.4 percent in 2023 to 1740.14 million units, according to a report from Gartner.

In 2022, the devices shipment market declined 11.9 percent.

PC shipments are estimated to decline 6.8 percent in 2023, after a 16 percent drop in 2022. Tablet shipments will drop 2.9 percent in 2023 after 12 percent dip in 2022.

Phone shipments will decline 4 percent in 2023 to 1.34 billion from 1.4 billion in 2022.

Smartphone shipments are projected to total 1.23 billion units in 2023, down from 1.28 billion units in 2022.

“The depressed economic market will continue to dampen demand for devices throughout 2023. End-user spending on devices is projected to decline 5.1 percent in 2023,” said Ranjit Atwal, Senior Director Analyst at Gartner.
