Shipment in Latin American smartphone market increased 26 percent year-on-year to 34.9 million units in Q1 2024, Canalys’ latest research.
This marks the third consecutive quarter of double-digit growth.
Samsung has retained its lead position in Latin American smartphone market, bolstered by strong sales of its budget-friendly A-series, witnessing a 6 percent increase to 11.1 million units.
Motorola has maintained its second-place ranking with a modest 1 percent growth in Latin American smartphone market, reaching 5.9 million units.
Xiaomi, TRANSSION and HONOR also demonstrated robust growth rates of 45 percent, 215 percent, and 293 percent, respectively, solidifying their positions among the top five vendors with sales of 5.3 million, 3.4 million, and 2.6 million units.
“This resurgence in demand is widespread, with nine of the top ten vendors experiencing significant annual growth in Q1 2024. Particularly notable is the strong performance in the low-to-mid-range price segments, where the most shipped models include Samsung’s low-end A-series, Xiaomi’s Redmi series and Motorola’s G series,” said Miguel Perez, Senior Consultant at Canalys.
In Q1 2024, 7 percent of smartphones sold in Latin American smartphone market were priced at US$800 or above, whereas 82 percent were priced under US$400.
