Indian 4G operator Reliance Jio said WhatsApp messaging app will be available for JioPhone across India.
WhatsApp has built a new version of its private messaging app for JioPhone, running the Jio-KaiOS.
JioPhone users need to verify their phone number and they can begin chatting with other WhatsApp users one-on-one or in groups.
Reliance Jio has a 4G subscriber base of over 215 million users mainly in Indian towns and urban locations.
According to the Monsoon Hungama offer, JioPhone is available for Rs 501. Reliance Jio offers mobile data at low tariffs, in addition to free voice calling, to all JioPhone customers on its 4G network.
JioPhone users are enjoying applications such as JioTV, JioCinema, JioMusic, JioChat, Google Maps and Facebook.
“We will be providing WhatsApp chat application on all JioPhones starting today. Jio wants to thank the Facebook and WhatsApp team for making this happen,” Akash Ambani, director, Reliance Jio Infocomm, said.
