The GSMA Intelligence report has revealed the leading smartphone vendors in global telecom markets during the first half of 2024.

The top smartphone brands, by global market share, are Samsung (22 percent), Apple (19 percent), Xiaomi (13 percent), Oppo (7 percent), Vivo (7 percent), Huawei (7 percent), Tecno (4 percent), Motorola (2 percent), and OnePlus (1 percent).

Smartphone Vendor Rankings by Country:

Samsung holds the #1 position in 152 countries, is #2 in 69 countries, and #3 in 13 countries.

Apple leads in 46 countries, is ranked #2 in 87 countries, and #3 in 53 countries.

Xiaomi is #1 in 9 countries, #2 in 44 countries, and #3 in 70 countries.

Oppo is the top vendor in 3 countries, #2 in 4 countries, and #3 in 11 countries.

Vivo is #1 in 3 countries, #2 in 4, and #3 in 11.

Huawei is #1 in 1 country, #2 in 11 countries, and #3 in 26.

Tecno dominates in 23 countries, ranks #2 in 15, and #3 in 7.

Motorola is #2 in 5 countries, and #3 in 12.

OnePlus is #2 in 1 country, and #3 in 6 countries.

Consumer Behavior Insights:

90 percent of smartphone users plan to replace their phones, with 28 percent doing so within the next year and 59 percent within the next two years.

74 percent of those replacing their smartphones are likely to stick with their current brand.

The top five factors influencing consumers when purchasing a new smartphone are battery life, durability, security, cost, and camera quality.

76 percent of smartphone users consume digital entertainment services such as video, music, or games weekly.

37 percent of those planning to replace their smartphone would consider purchasing a preowned or refurbished device.

These trends highlight a competitive smartphone market, with brand loyalty playing a significant role in consumer purchasing decisions.
