Introduction

Released in 2017 by Epic Games, Fortnite is a free game available for download on several platforms. The game is a third-person shooter and offers gameplay where 100 players fight in an arena.

The round ends when a particular player or team has eliminated every other player. Moreover, players can enter games solo, as duos, or in quads. The game has several modes, but has three main modes around which other game modes revolve.

The first two modes, Save the World and Battle Royale, were available in 2017. However, the Battle Royale mode came shortly after Save the World – which was released at the game’s launch. The third mode, Creative, was released about a year later, in December 2018.

Modes

Save the World

Fortnite: Save the World tops the titles’ list as the first mode to be released. It was released in 2017 on the game’s first official release. Save the World is Fortnite’s campaign mode. While this mode is majorly solo, you can enter matches with friends in duos or trios.

In this mode, you’re to play against Fortnite’s zombie-like AI characters, otherwise known as husks. Activities in the game involve building defences, crafting items and weapons, etc.

Other key features of the Save the World mode are Quests, Missions, and Events. There’s also a command base and a Shop. Also, note that Save the World has a shop separate from the other modes in the game. You can’t use unlocked items in this mode on the other two modes.

However, you can use some cosmetics in your creative mode in Save the World. Lastly, players must pay a fee to access the Save the World mode.

Battle Royale

Despite coming after the Save the World mode, this is the most popular title in the Fortnite Series. The Battle Royale mode features a game where players can go into games either solo or in teams containing 4 players at maximum.

Battle Royale PVP matches contain 100 players who drop into the arena from a Battle Bus. They are to search for weapons, building materials, and other items, eliminating players from other teams that come their way.

In addition to the competitive and non-competitive modes, there are also Limited Time Modes. These modes offer three specific quests with various rewards. Some of the rewards you get in the game are the Drooly Spray, the Qwerty Axe, and a banner.

Creative

Released in December 2018, Fortnite’s Creative mode is not like your regular game. In this mode, players have their Creative Island, where they design maps to look like their ideal Fortnite.

They’re free to add people, items, devices, and structures (prefabs) and share them in the Creative Hub. Also present at the Creative Hub are games designed by other players on the same server.

Conclusion

Fortnite is an exciting game that promises more than just gaming fun. For players who were only aware of the Battle Royale mode, you can also try out other modes such as the Creative and Safe the World modes.

You can also use the Creative mode to create your Fortnite world with many tools and items at your disposal.
