Lead America: Networking and connectivity solutions provider D-Link
has launched the Cloud Router 5700 (DIR-865L), which is the first 802.11ac
router.
The
new router is equipped with Broadcom’s 5G WiFi (802.11ac) chip and offers
dual-band wireless performance of up to 1750Mbps.
The
router features D-Link’s Cloud App, which allows consumers to monitor and
control the home network remotely.
With
wireless speeds up to 1750 Mbps (1300 ac + 450 n), the company claims that the
Cloud Router 5700 is three times faster than the fastest Wireless N technology.
The
company also claims that the Cloud Router 5700 is ideal for wireless HD video
streaming and multi-person online gaming.
The
Cloud Router 5700 provides users with easy access to manage and stream local
content from a connected USB drive to mobile devices via D-Link’s SharePort
mobile app.
“Powered
by 802.11ac technology, the Cloud Router 5700 not only tackles all the wireless
needs of today’s connected home with unparalleled wireless signal and strength,
but also caters directly to today’s mobile lifestyle with D-Link’s mydlink
Cloud Services that enable consumers to monitor internet activity and access
content saved onto a USB thumb drive via the SharePort app,” said Ken
Loyd, director, consumer products, D-Link Systems, Inc.
The
router uses the 5GHz band and allows for less interference and a cleaner
connection.
The
Cloud Router 5700 supports the IPv6 standard and is backwards compatible with
previous generation 802.11n wireless standards.
“The
improved speed and range enabled by our 5G WiFi technology make it the
preferred solution for the new generation of wireless routers. D-Link routers
based on 5G WiFi will deliver reliable video streaming, faster file transfers,
and an overall more satisfying wireless experience,” said Dino Bekis,
Broadcom Senior Director, Access and Wireless Entertainment Business.
The
router is available with a retail price of $189.99 at Amazon.com and
Newegg.com.
