COMIO starts assembling of smartphones in India

COMIO has started assembling of smartphones through contract manufacturers — V-Sun and Hipad Technology – in India.

New Delhi-based COMIO said the two facilities will be manufacturing around 1 million devices over the next six months and will employ close to 600 people.

COMIO caters to the mid-level smartphone segment priced between Rs 6,000 and Rs 12,000. COMIO smartphones are currently available in retail stores across North India and will soon be marking their presence throughout the country.

The company plans to strengthen its brand presence with a network of 30,000 retailers, 800 distributors and 800+ after-sales touch points catering to 500-550 towns.

COMIO said the facilities will handle management, including assembly, packaging, maintenance, testing, quality assurance and warehousing for both the existing as well as upcoming smartphones for the brand across 8 assembly and packaging lines.

“With this initiative, COMIO will be investing INR 150 crore in manufacturing over the next two years in India,” said Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, CEO and director, COMIO.

Topwise Communication will be deputing 20 engineers from China to train and monitor the assembly process to match their global standards.
