BlackBerry Z3 smartphone priced at $190 in Indonesia

BlackBerry Z3 smartphone will be priced at $190 (around Rs 11,530) in Indonesia.

Last week, Microsoft said it would tap the rapidly growing $50 billion affordable phone market with the acquisition of Nokia phone business for $7.2 billion.

BlackBerry needs to competes with Samsung, Microsoft, Huawei, Lenovo, Sony, LG, Micromax, etc. in the budget phone market.

The company earlier said BlackBerry Z3 is meant for emerging telecom markets.

Indonesian mobile customers can start pre-order now from telecom operators Indosat and XL. The price in local currency is IDR 2,199,000.

BlackBerry, in a bid to revive its business, will focus on cost effective smartphone this year. BlackBerry Z3 will be officially launched on 13 May.

The Canadian phone vendor also announced a limited edition model — BlackBerry Z3, Jakarta Edition — which will feature the inscription Jakarta on the back of the device to commemorate the launch of the first BlackBerry smartphone built specifically for the Indonesia market.

BlackBerry Z3 is customized with local apps and content, features a modern design with a 5″ display, long lasting battery and comes with BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.2.1.

Key features of BlackBerry Z3 include BlackBerry Hub, BBM, BlackBerry Keyboard, Time Shift & Story Maker, BlackBerry 10 Browser, Instant Previews & Reply Now, Fast, Easy Sharing and FM Radio.

BlackBerry Keyboard learns what words you use and how you use them, then offers them up to you so you can type faster and more accurately. It gives you Bahasa Indonesia typing experience on a touchscreen, complete with multi-language support that lets you type in up to 3 different languages at the same time.

Instant Previews & Reply Now enables you to reply to your BBM or SMS messages in any app, or swipe to the BlackBerry Hub to respond. If you get a phone call that you can’t answer right way, you can instantly silence the call and send a Reply Now response through BBM, SMS or email to let the caller know you’re busy.

The BlackBerry Z3 learns how you share and who you share with, helping you reduce the number of steps and amount of time it takes to get your files, photos, or documents to where they need to go.
