Review: Micromax Bolt A35

Telecom Lead India: The Micromax Bolt A35 is an attractive, sturdy touch bar phone.

It has a textured back panel for better grip. The user interface is bright, neat and uncluttered.  Its 4 inch display is quite appealing.

This dual SIM phone has a quick processor that delivers decent performance. The 256 MB RAM, though, limits the number of apps that can be used.

The 2 MP rear camera loads slowly. One misses the presence of flash.  Pictures taken with the camera were dark and dull even after adjusting settings for picture quality and exposure.

The loud shutter sound can be annoying. The lesser said about the secondary VGA camera of 0.3 MP, the better. Although the phone supports video recording and supports multiple formats, the results are quite disappointing.

Micromax Bolt A35 offers only 160MB of internal memory. Without an SD card, the phone kept flashing a notification about being low on memory even when it had only a few messages and contacts stored in the phone memory. It supports microSD memory up to 16GB.

The phone took almost 2 hours for the battery to be fully charged. Battery drains quite quickly if one were to use internet often. On standby the battery lasted around 9 hours. We found that the phone offers talk time of just over 4 hours.

For connectivity the phone supports GPRS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The Flash transfer feature makes it easy to share apps, games, images, videos and songs.

Sound quality is quite good on this phone. Listening to FM and songs was quite enjoyable because of the crisp sound quality enhanced by the speaker outlets at the back of the phone.

This phone doesn’t seem to be built for gaming. Despite the quick processor, it lags a bit while playing graphic rich games.

Overall, the phone is a good bet for people looking for a budget Android phone. The price, dual SIM capability and the looks of this phone are its USP. Performance wise, those who are big on gaming and expect good quality pictures from the camera on their phones should give the Micromax Bolt A 35 a miss.
